George A. Daughton, age 82 years of Darlington, MD died on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. He was the husband of the late Frances V. Daughton.
Mr. Daughton was born on June 17, 1927 in Whiteford, MD a son of the late Samuel John and Mary Ellen (Cloman) Daughton. He was a graduate of the former Slate Ridge High School in Cardiff, MD Mr. Daughton served in the US Army from 1945- 1969 retiring as a Staff Sergeant. During his time he served in Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Germany and Viet Nam, also at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He was an auto mechanic and helicopter mechanic during his service.
After his retirement from the US Army he worked for the former Eastern Trash Removal and at Conowingo Power Company and repaired lawn mowers and small engines. He enjoyed tinkering- making clocks, jewelry boxes and toys. He loved to garden, raising grapes and flowers which he sold from his house.
He is survived by a brother- Samuel J. "Jim" Daughton Sr. of Brogue, PA
2 nieces- Brenda L. Null of Resaca, Georgia and Annette Schuler of Delta, PA
1 nephew- Samuel J. Daughton Jr. of Jarrettsville, MD
Funeral service will be on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 11:00 Am at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA with Pastor Edward Wible of Chanceford Alliance Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Interment with Military Honors by the Maryland National Guard will be at Highland Cemetery, Street, MD.
Pallbearers will be Samuel J. Daughton Jr., Jerry and Don Schuler, Donald Wyatt, Allan McCallister and Albert McGuigan.
Honorary pallbearers are Samuel J. Daughton Sr and Harry McCallister Jr.
