George N. Roberts Jr., age 81 years, of Cardiff, MD died on Friday, Feb. 25 at Bel Air Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Betty J. (Swift) Roberts and had been married for 59 years.

Mr. Roberts was born on Nov. 5, 1929 in Virginia, a son of the late George N. and Mary Louise (Taylor) Roberts Sr. George had worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for the Maryland State Highway Dept. He was the former owner and operator of Harford Trash Removal. He had also worked on a couple local farms in his younger days. He was a lifetime member of the Delta Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company and the Fire Police. He was a member of the Mason-Dixon Lions Club. After he retired he transported local Amish school teachers to their schools.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter- Linda Doss of Cardiff, MD

3 brothers- Chaplain Richard A. Roberts of Whiteford, MD

He was preceded in death by 3 siblings- Floyd Roberts, James William Roberts and Norma Lewis

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 1 at 11 AM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA. Visitation will be on Monday, Feb. 28 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens

Pastor Judy Walker of Delta United Methodist Church will officiate.
