GLORIA R. THOMPSON, age 84 years, died on Monday, July 13, 2009 in her home in Pylesville, Maryland from complications of cancer.

Born on November 8, 1924, Gloria Roberts Thompson was born and raised in Cardiff, Maryland, the only child of the late Ernest and Beulah (Temperance) Roberts. Mr. Roberts owned and managed R. Roberts and Sons Welding Shop that is currently owned by Gloria's son, Gary.

Gloria was a 1941 graduate of the former Slate Ridge High School and she continued her education, graduating from Towson Business School. On March 16, 1946, she married Mervyn Graham Thompson at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church. Mr. Thompson was employed by the Harford County Zoning Office. They had two sons, M. Graham Thompson, Jr., and Gary E. Thompson. Gloria worked for over 30 years for the Harford County Health Department, retiring in 1986.

Mrs. Thompson attended Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, the Evangelical Methodist Church and was a member of Penn Mary Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, treasure hunting at yard sales, traveling and entertaining for friends and family.

Aimie T. Hauhn and Aaron D. Thompson

Eight great grandchildren-

Wyatt Hauhn, Toby Thompson, Sebastian Thompson, Katarina Thompson, Connor Budsan, Alana Thompson, Sofie Thompson and Jacob Budsan.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Mervyn G. Thompson and her grandson, Adam D. Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11 AM at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1630 Chestnut Street, Cardiff, Maryland with Reverend Henry W. Heaps officiating.

Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Friends may call on Friday, July 17th from 6 to 8 PM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.
