IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gregory Alan
Buckler
February 1, 1957 – June 22, 2024
Beloved husband, devoted father, thoughtful friend, dedicated veteran and man of God, Gregory Alan Buckler, passed away on June 22, 2024. He was born in Millersburg, KY, to James E. and Anna K. (Herrington) Buckler. With three sisters (Diana, Barbara and Brenda), he often smiled and said God was preparing him to be surrounded by women. He and his wife, Edith Fielder Buckler recently celebrated their fortieth anniversary. He was proud of his children, Rachel and Amy and son-in-law Bikrant Shrestha. A twinkle gleamed in his eye and his heart swelled when called Pawpaw by his grandchildren, Nora and Bodhi. He was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends that became family.
Greg grew up on a livestock farm in Kentucky before joining the Naval Jr. ROTC while attending Bourbon County High School. After graduation, he served in the National Guard and later the United States Army. He was appreciated for his leadership qualities, strong work ethic and the way he valued soldiers and their families. His honorable military service ended after serving in Desert Storm.
In 1993 he brought his family to Harford County, Maryland at the request of his father-in-law, James D. Fielder. Whether it was milking cows or raising crops, he did what was needed to support the family farm. Greg continued farming until his father-in-law decided to step away from active farming. At that point, Greg returned to serving his country as a civilian servant at APG Edgewood Arsenal, where he stayed until his retirement.
Church of the Ascension became an integral part of his life where he could be found mowing the grass, celebrating God in the pew and reaching out to the needy in the community. He also served regularly as a chalice, lay leader, bell ringer and treasurer. No matter what was needed, Greg could be depended upon to share his thoughts as well as his hand.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
