Obituary

Guy Curtis Scarborough, age 87, died at home on August 17, 2010.

Curtis was born February 20, 1923 at Lee Hurst Farm, Route 136, Whiteford, Harford County, MD, the son of J. Ruth Wilson and Guy Witson Scarborough, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John May Scarborough and Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson. Curtis was descended from John Scarborough and his son John Jr. who came to America from Hoosier Lane, London, England in 1682 after purchasing 250 acres in Middletown Township, Bucks County, PA, near what is now Langhorne, PA, from William Penn. One of John�s descendents, Euclidees Scarborough Sr. came from PA to Harford County where he and his five sons fought in the American Revolution in Captain John Patrick�s Company No. 17. He also was a signer, Association of Freemen, 1776, Deer Creek Upper Hundred.

Curtis attended a one-room school at Prospect, now Whiteford, MD, and graduated from the former Slate Ridge High School in 1940 and West Nottingham Academy in 1941. He attended the University of Maryland and joined the ATO fraternity. He graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law with L.L.B. and J.D. degrees.

Curtis married Katherine Streett Davis of Street, MD on June 15, 1946, and they attended law school together. He was admitted to practice law in Maryland, the United States Federal Bar, and the United States Supreme Court.

In November, 1950, he was accepted into the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent where we served under J. Edgar Hoover in the Denver, Los Angeles, and Baltimore offices. He retired as a supervisor in February, 1978. He and his family spent summers at their beach house in Ocean City, MD and in Fenwick Island, DE and winters at Marco Island, FL.

He was predeceased by his wife of sixty three years and is survived by his two daughters, Katherine Streett Scarborough and Gail Scarborough Dickson of Richmond, VA, his son, John Curtis Scarborough of Denver, CO, and his four grandchildren, Heather Leigh Dickson, Erin Michelle Dickson, Evan John Scarborough, and Christopher Curtis Scarborough.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Pastor James Johnson of Dublin United Methodist Church, Darlington, Maryland will officiate.

Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, 4603 Rocks Road, Street, Maryland.
