HAROLD D. PETTY, age76 years, died on Friday, January 31, 2014 in his home in Darlington, MD. He was the husband of Sue (McCann) Petty with whom he had shared 57 years of marriage.
Born on May 26, 1937 in Galax, VA, he was a son of the late Elijah and Mae (Edwards) Petty and a 1955 graduate of North Harford High School. Mr. Petty had served with the Maryland State Police from 1959 until retirement in 1984. During retirement, he worked for Clark Sales and Service in Dublin until 2001. Mr. Petty was a member of the Maryland Troopers Association and the Darlington Lions Club.

Kris N. Hamilton and her husband, Jimmy of Churchville, MD

Virginia Catron and her husband, Edward of Hoquiam, WA
Kathy Hammock and her husband Robert of Delta, PA
Three brothers-
Thomas Petty and his wife, Elevrie of Street, MD
William R. "Bob" Petty and his wife, Barbara of Churchville, MD
R.L. "Pete" Petty and his wife, Kathy of Dublin, MD
Thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Petty; two sisters-Carolyn Jean Smith and Opal Ross.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. His son, Phillip A. Petty will be joined by Thomas McKnight to co-officiate at the funeral service.
Interment will be in Dublin Southern Cemetery, Darlington, MD with Pastor Rick Wilson of Franklin Baptist Church presiding.
In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Dublin Elementary School, 1527 Whiteford Road, Street, MD 21154.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Petty, Daniel Petty, Jamie Hamilton, Billy Smith, Jason Ketner and Galen Beers.
His son, Phillip A. Petty will be joined by Thomas McKnight to co-officiate at the funeral service.
