HAZEL A. GROFF, 92 of Street, MD, passed away in her home on Friday, October 8, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Herbert R. Groff who preceded her in death in 1979.

Born on January 18, 1929 in Street, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edwin T. Anderson and Edith R. (Tayson) Anderson and a 1946 graduate of the former Dublin High School. Hazel was a lifetime resident of the family property in Street where six generations have resided. In 1949, Hazel graduated from the former Church Home & Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD and had worked as a register nurse for 40 years. Hazel had maintained her membership in the school alumni program and 26 of her years in nursing were in public health.

Church and her Lord were very important to Hazel, and she was a lifetime member at Church of the Ascension where she was elected senior warden and served as vestry. Hazel could always be seen decorating the altar with flowers for services, working in the kitchen for social activities and would bring her "famous pumpkin roll" to many events. Her kind spirit will be missed.

Lisa Groff and her husband, Rodney Bunker, wife of her late son, Richard F. Groff who died in October 2000 of Street, MD

Samantha L. Greene (John) of Abingdon, MD

A great grandson, Theodore Groff

Following a private inurnment, a Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 18th at 6 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 3015 Dublin Road, Street, MD 21154 with Reverend J. Larrie Smith as celebrant. A reception will be held in the church social hall after the service.
