HAZEL M. LAIRD, age 95 years of Forest Hill, MD and formerly of Darlington died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air at 5:35 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009. She was the wife of J. Kermit Laird who died on September 30, 1972.

Mrs. Laird was born in Chestnut Hill, MD on January 17, 1914 a daughter of the late Norman and Bertha (Monks) Harkins. She was a graduate of Bel Air High School and she enjoyed homemaking.

She is survived by:

Two sons: James K. Laird and his wife Mae

Donald F. Laird and his wife Carolyn, all of Darlington, MD

One sister: Dorothy Sexton of Bel Air

One brother: Edward Harkins of Forest Hill

Five grandchildren: Dawn Dunn, Craig Laird, Stephanie Vaughn, Christine Long and Tammy Cox.

Also survived by six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emory United Methodist Church, 911 Cherry Hill Road, Street, MD

The pastor, Reverend Dr. Paul P. Benjamin will officiate.

Inurnment will be private.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
