Hazel Marie McGurk, 104, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 6, 2023. She was one of eight children, born in Tazewell, VA, to her late parents; Charles John and Lena B. (Yost) Keesee. She was married to her late husband, Joseph Emory McGurk, until his death in 1967.

Following graduation from high school, Hazel attended York Vo-Tech and obtained her LPN degree. She was a prolific nurse in public health for more than 25 years at the former Memorial Hospital in York. She also cared tenderly for her family while they battled the devastating health effects of polycystic kidney disease. Hazel was a strong woman, devoted to her family. Following the death of her husband, she provided a loving and nurturing environment to her six children.

Faith was an important part of Hazel's life. She was a member of Aldersgate Church in York, PA. She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Order of Amaranth. She attended the Triangle Chapter, No. 483, of Shrewsbury, PA. She will be remembered as a woman of few words, but when she spoke, it was best to listen.

Hazel is survived by her children; Carol Stump, of Elizabethtown, PA, Daniel C. (Delores) McGurk, of Myerstown, PA and Deborah M. (Melvin) Crowl, of Newark, DE. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Hazel was predeceased by her children, Patricia McGurk Ellis, Joan Steiner and Susan K. Baldwin, four sisters and three brothers.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11 am at Salem Cemetery, 5042 Delta Road, Delta, PA. Pastor Jerry Schmidt of The Faith, Hope and Love Charge of The United Methodist Church will officiate at the graveside service.
