HELEN JANE WHITEFORD RICHARDSON, age 93 years of Pylesville, MD, died peacefully in her home on Friday, December 13, 2013. She was the wife of the late Hayward C. Richardson.

Born on March 28, 1920 in Pylesville, MD, Helen was the daughter of Neva J. and H. Delmar Whiteford. A lifetime resident of Pylesville as well as a lifetime member r of Fawn United Methodist Church, Helen was very active in the church activities. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, served as superintendent of Sunday School and a teacher in Vacation Bible School in her earlier years.

She graduated from Summit Hall School and attended the former Highland High School. Graduating from Marinello Beauty School as a cosmetologist, Helen or "Dutch" as some called her was known for her caring personality. Helen was the owner/operator of "Helen's Beauty Nook" where friends would come from miles around for good conversations and the special care she always gave. Helen was known to send cards for all occasions, and to count the number she received on special days. Helen was fond or working on word searches.

A loving mother, Helen is survived by her daughter, Dr. Mary Jane Gentry of Corolla, NC and was preceded in death by her son, H. Charles Richardson, Jr.,

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. Interment will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery.
