HERSHEL EDWARD BATES, 87 of Delta, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 in his home. Married on January 11, 1973, he was the beloved husband of Ellen J. (Shifflett) Bates for over 46 years.

Hershel was born on February 7, 1932 in Sweet Springs, WV; he was a son of the late William Thomas and Frances (Baker) Bates and had served in the U.S. Army from October 1952 – August 1954. Hershel was known to be a hard worker and was a dedicated skilled engineer for 30 years with Boeing Aircraft manufacturing helicopters. He loved being at home and was frequently found working on the barn and his tractors. His faithful dogs – Missy and Rosie were always close by.

Shannon Lewis, Heather Lewis and Brittany Lewis

Four great grandchildren-

Andy Adolph, Ava Clark, Roger Stansbury, Jr. and Liam Penn.
