IRIS M. WALTON, age 84 years, of Street, Maryland died on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 2:45 p.m. at Bel Air Health & Rehabilitation Center in Bel Air, Maryland. She was the wife of Clarence E. Walton and on October 23, 2005, they celebrated their thirty-seventh anniversary.

Mrs. Walton was born on May 31, 1922 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a daughter of the late Richard and Ethel (Hopkins) Simpson. She sewed for the former Bata Shoe Company at their Belcamp, Maryland location for over twenty-one years. After residing in Aberdeen, Maryland for thirty years, she moved to Street. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at the Rocks, Maryland Lodge. She was a faithful member of the Fairview AME Church in Forest Hill, Maryland where she sang in the choir.

She loved all types of flowers, eating crabs and cooking. Baking the most delicious carrot cake was her specialty.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by:

A daughter-Gwenolyn Bell of Winston-Salem, North Carolina

Three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A sister-Rosa Burrell of Bronx, New York.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview AME Church, 2328 Highpoint Road, Forest Hill, Maryland, 21050.

Her pastor, Reverend Theodore McPherson will officiate.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, just prior to the service from 10-11a.m.

Interment will be in the Chestnut Grove AME Cemetery, 828 Coen Road, Street, Maryland.
