IVAN L. "Pork Chop" MAYES, age 76 years of Street, MD died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. He was the husband of Geneva M. (Taylor) Mayes who died on September 2, 2009.

He was born in Luray, VA on February 18, 1935, a son of the late Laban Cletus and Elsie Arbula (Tibbet) Mayes. He moved to Harford County as a young boy and was a longtime member of the Church of the Ascension in Street, MD where he had served as a vestryman. A truck driver by trade, Mr. Mayes retired from Maryland Portable Concrete in 1987 due to disability.

He is survived by:

Chuck Mayes and Dee of Port Deposit, MD

Three sisters:

Betty Houlihan of Spencer Port, NY

Patricia Taylor of Rileyville, VA

Marian Martin of North East, MD

Six grandchildren: Suzzie Steffy, Richard Bennett, John, Nicholas, Jessie and Shawn Mayes

Also survived by seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA.

Reverend W. Earl Taylor of the First Baptist Church, Elkton, MD will officiate.

Viewings will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ASPCA, 520 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10018.
