JAMES C. BATES, age 88 years of Airville, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, August 31, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Regina Mary (Zmijewsky) Bates who died on April 4, 2008.

Born on May 1, 1924 in Rice, Virginia, he was a son of the late Richard and Ella (Shepard) Bates. Mr. Bates was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and had lived in Baltimore and Florida before coming to York County. He enjoyed working on cars, carpentry work and spending time with his family.

Joseph C. Bates and his wife, Noel; Stanley Richard Bates and his wife, Amy, all of Airville.

Two grandchildren and five great grandchildren

A sister, Lucy Skipper and her husband, Bill of Virginia

A sister-in-law, Esther Bates, also of Virginia

Loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at North Harford Baptist Church, 4008 Old Federal Hill Rd., Jarrettsville, MD.
