JAMES W. EDWARDS, age 84 years, of Street, Maryland died on Monday, August 4, 2008 at Laurelwood Nursing Home in Elkton, Maryland. He was the husband of Opal M. Edwards who died on March 2, 2007.
Mr. Edwards was born on May 23, 1924 in Bel Air, Maryland; he was a son of the late Carl Watson and Hattie Mae (Barker) Edwards. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in North Africa and Europe during WWII. He resided in Timonium for thirty-two years before moving to Street in 1996. He worked as a claims investigator for the State of Maryland until his retirement. His memberships included: Mt. Nebo Lodge AF&AM of Perry Hall, Maryland; Scottish Rite of the Valley of Baltimore; Bay Country Moose Lodge #831 of Queenstown, Maryland; Boumi Temple of Baltimore, Maryland; and VFW Post #7464 of Grasonville, Maryland. He attended Trinity Free Will Baptist Church of Darlington, Maryland.
He is survived by:
Three children-
Robert L. Clutter of Red Lion, Pennsylvania
Phyllis J. Belcher of Darlington, Maryland
Charles R. Edwards of Ocean View, Delaware
Six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by a son, James W. Edwards, Jr., a brother, Quincy Edwards and a sister, Sylvia Edwards Millionie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, 3414 Cedar Church Road, Darlington, MD, 21034.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 8th at 11:00 AM at the church.
Pastor Christopher Karschner will officiate.
Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, Maryland.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
