Obituary

JAMES E. SHOPE, SR., age 67 years, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in his home in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Carolyn (Sueck) Shope, with whom he had shared 46 years of marriage.

Born on February 28, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of late Leroy Franklin and Cora Ellen (Johnson) Shope. He had worked as a bookbinder for the United States Government Printing Office. A resident of Fawn Grove for the past 9 years, Mr. Shope was a member of Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company and Citizens Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of the Delta Senior Center, enjoyed playing bingo, pinochle, dominoes and card games.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

A son, James E. Shope, Jr., and his wife, Betty

A daughter, Shanan Donley and her husband, Mark

He will also be missed by his faithful daughter-in-law, Kim Shope.

Six grandchildren and a step grandson:

Alicia Shope and her husband, Mike, Catherine Shope, Joseph Hefner, Samantha Hefner, Dakota Shope, Connor Shope and Conner Overcash.

Two great grandchildren-

Gaven Lawson and Jordan Lawson

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2010 from 2 to 5 PM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be on Monday, August 23rd at 10 AM at the funeral home.

Reverend John B. Ferra, Jr., of St. James Lutheran Church, Brogue, Pennsylvania will officiate.

Interment will be in Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, 10201 Bird River Road, Baltimore, Maryland.
