JAMES WILBURN STAMPER, age 79 years, of Bel Air, Maryland died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. He was the husband of Virtie (Flanagan) Stamper for fifty-four years.
Mr. Stamper was born on July 24, 1928 in Boissevane, Virginia; he was the son of the late
Robert Lee and Lillian (Greer) Stamper. He worshiped in the Baptist faith and was ordained as a minister in 1954. He founded and was pastor of churches in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. In 1972, he created, operated and was president of Maryland Redi Mix in Joppa, Maryland until his retirement in May of 1991.

Two sons-
Wilbur M. Stamper and his wife, Deborah J. of Narvon, Pennsylvania
Timothy W. Stamper and his wife, Cheryl of Bel Air, Maryland
A daughter, Esther G. Stamper of Bel Air, Maryland
Ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren
Four siblings-
Robert M. Stamper and his wife, Betty of Thika, Kenya
Rodney T. Stamper and his wife, Brenda of Delta, Pennsylvania
Lucy N. Wolf and her husband, Junior of Red Lion, Pennsylvania
Mary L. VanDyke and her husband, Charlie of Airville, Pennsylvania
He was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Scarborough.
Visitations will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church, 1707 Churchville Road, Bel Air, Maryland 21015 and on Sunday, the 27th from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church, 4162 Delta Road, Airville, Pennsylvania. The funeral services will follow beginning at 2:00 PM.
Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, Rodney Stamper, with Elder Steve Bloyd and Missionary Bob Stamper will co-officiate.
Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church at the above address or to Bethany Baptist Church, PO Box 306, Airville, PA 17302.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Brian Stamper; Timothy Stamper, II; Eric Stamper; Nathan Stamper; Matthew Miecznikoski and his nephew, Walt Patrick.
