JEAN ELIZABETH DAY, age 82 years, of Bel Air, formerly of Dublin, Maryland died on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the home of her son. She was the wife of Robert L. "Bob" Day, Sr. and at the time of his death in July of 2007, they had shared 60 years of marriage.

Born on June 8, 1928 in the Dublin Area of Harford County, she was a daughter of the late Byron H. and Ruby H. Caulford. Mrs. Day spent most of her lifetime living in Dublin and graduated in 1945 from the former Dublin School. She was a lifetime member of Dublin United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women's Group, taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent and assisted with Vacation Bible School.

Children and community service were staples of Mrs. Day's life. She was a Girl Scout Leader and was selected as the 2001-2002 Maryland State Volunteer of the Year for her dedication with the Harford County Parks and Recreation. She volunteered at Dublin Elementary School where she assisted in various activities, was a reading helper and a school bus driver. Mrs. Day was a judge for the Harford County Board of Elections for many years, was a driver for Meals On Wheels, dedicated her time to those in need with Harford Hospice and worked with the Civil Service Air Patrol.

Mrs. Day was an avid historian and could recite the history of places of local interest, especially the former mills and older businesses of Harford County. She was involved with the Dublin Fair since 1996 and was a former Grand Marshall of the fair. She and her late husband were dancers with the Dublin Square Dancers. Mrs. Day enjoyed gardening, loved to travel, surrounded herself with her family and friends, and adored being with children.

Sue Williams and her husband, Ricky of Bel Air, Maryland

Stephen W. Day and his wife, Deborah of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania

Connie J. Wallace and her husband, William of Bel Air, Maryland

Thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Mary Joyce Smith of Crofton, Maryland

Numerous loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Ronald L. Day and Robert L. Day, Jr. and a granddaughter, Virginia Day.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Dublin United Methodist Church, 1528 Whiteford Road Street, Maryland.

Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday, September 13th at 11 a.m.

Inurnment will be in Dublin Southern Cemetery, Darlington, Maryland.
