Jo Ann Kane, age 66 years of Delta, Pennsylvania died at her home at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Ellis, the late Samuel Ray Anders and the late Douglas Preston Kane.

Born in Delta on May 2, 1943, Jo Ann was a daughter of the late Lawrence I. and Alice E. (Barben) Morris. She was a 1961 graduate of Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania and later worked as a carburetor and starter assembler for the former Blue Chip Corp. of Elkton, Maryland, a job she really enjoyed. Following that she worked as a custodian for Harford County Public Schools, retiring in 2005 due to disability.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Pylesville, Maryland and the Slate Ridge Post #182, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Whiteford, Maryland.

Over the course of her life she lived in both the states of Washington and Florida and dearly loved living in each. Her family described her as a very loving and forgiving person who was devoted to her late dog, George and her current cat, Tommy.

She is survived by:

Two daughters: Joyce V. Haller and her husband Tim of Delta

Pearl Theresa Scarborough and her husband Jim of Pottsboro, Texas

Step-son: Mark R. Ellis of Tampa, Florida

One sister: Connie Morris of Delta

One brother: Lawrence A. Morris and his wife Bonnie of Delta

Five grandchildren: John W. Ricks, IV, Jessica Ricks, Trinity Haller, Brianna Scarborough and Faith Scarborough

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Ann Wilkerson and her brother, Thomas G. Morris.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 3 PM in her home, 1001 Front Street, Delta.
