Joan Theresa Dawson, 87, of Darlington, MD, died peacefully at home on May 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born in Conowingo, MD, to her late parents, Delmar and Edna Mae (Hagan) Devonshire. She was married to her late husband, Harvey Edward Dawson, until his death on March 8, 2016.

Joan was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed drinking iced coffee, shopping on QVC, spending time with loved ones around the table and sharing meals at her favorite restaurants, especially Shady Maple. She loved to garden and enjoyed the beauty of flowers. She was a dedicated member of Dublin United Methodist Church in Dublin, MD, for 25 years.

Joan is survived by her children: Donna (Charles) Bosley, of Street, MD, Larry (Sandy) Dawson, of Whiteford, MD, Phyllis Dawson, of Darlington, Tina (Lee) Brewer, of Darlington, MD and Lisa (Toby) Beavers, of Whiteford, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Larry Dawson, Jr., Ben Dawson, Nicole Dawson, Eddie Brewer, Lucas Beavers and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her late husband and parents, Joan was predeceased by one grandson, Ryan Bosley, one sister, Marie Bannister and one brother, George Devonshire.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Darlington United Methodist Church, 2117 Shuresville Road, Darlington, MD. Pastor Trevor Liburd will officiate at the service.
