Obituary

JOHN ALLEN LENTZ, age 77 years of Street, MD, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Forest Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born on March 9, 1936 in York, PA, he was the only child of the late Spurgeon E. and Naomi Lucille (Thompson) Lentz.

The Lentz Family moved as did many during the Great Depression looking for employment, and settled in Harford County in the 1940's. While attending North Harford High School, he met Jean Marie Garrett in 1954. Graduating in 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Jean, in March of 1957, and they shared 56 years together.

John was talented in automotive repair, body work and maintenance. He began working during high school at Hollander's in Aberdeen, and then he worked aside his father at the Jaynes Sunoco Service Station on Rt. 1 in Street. After seven years of operation, John went to work for Motor Sales in Bel Air and at Harrington's Body Shop in Rising Sun. He later worked for many local businesses, but retired from Harco Auto Park in 1999. Through many of his employment opportunities, John loved to run the tow truck and work in the body shop. He was a talented auto body technician and a highly valued employee.

John enjoyed camping with the family, riding snowmobiles, racing micro midgets, collecting miniature carousel horses and pedal cars. He was a member of the Lanco Micro Midget Race Club of Lancaster County, PA, Blackbird Micro Midget Club and National Capital Ramblers Club.
