IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Arthur
Mcgreevy
May 27, 1941 – April 10, 2024
John A. McGreevy, Jr., of Fawn Grove, PA, passed peacefully from this life at home with his devoted family by his side on April 10, 2024. John was born on May 27, 1941 to the late John A. McGreevy, Sr., and Mildred F. (Stahler) McGreevy at home, in Pylesville, MD. He is survived by his spouse of 56 years, Rita (Gibson) McGreevy, originally of Delta, PA.
John was a 1959 graduate of North Harford High School, Pylesville, MD, and served his country and state in the Maryland Army National Guard, at the Bel Air Armory, Bel Air, MD.
John worked from a very young age beside his father in their wood, auto wrecking and contract mowing businesses. He and his father took great pride in their work as they mowed Harford County, Maryland road banks for almost fifty years. John also mowed for local boroughs in Southeastern York County. John branched out from his father and started McGreevy Fuel Wood, producing bundled wood for home use and camping for many, many years. He designed and built his own wood processor that was admired by all who saw it in operation.
John was a quiet man unless the subject was his grandsons, Ferguson tractors, or late model Ford Mustangs. He enjoyed watching college and professional sports especially the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens.
John is also survived by his daughter, Pamela J. (McGreevy) Sanft and her husband, Jeff, of Forest Hill, MD and son, John A. McGreevy, III of Herndon, VA; and grandsons, Dylan Sanft and Adam McGreevy; his sisters, Jean Brown of Red Lion, PA and June Hersey and spouse, David, of Stewartstown, PA, their families, and "McGreevy" and "Stahler" cousins.
