JOHN RUSSELL WILLIAMS, age 93 years of Delta, PA, died on Monday, October 28, 2013 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jane (Ailes) and on August 7th, they observed their 72nd anniversary.

Born on June 6, 1920 in Delta, PA, he was a son of the late William W. and Margaret (Williams) Williams. Mr. Williams worked as an accountant for the federal government, but his true passion was serving his community. As a 78 year member of the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company, Mr. Williams eventually held every elected position within the company. He was a longtime member and past president of the York County Firemen's Association. He was also a member of numerous fire department associations in both Pennsylvania and Maryland including the Harford-Cecil Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Maryland State Firemen's Association.

In 1996, Mr. Williams was designated an Honorary Harford Living Treasure by the Harford County Council.

A Master Mason, he was a member of Friendship Lodge #663, F.&A.M., Fawn Grove.

The last surviving descendant of the original Welsh settlers, he was a member of the Rehoboth Welsh Church in Delta.

Craig, John and Richard Parthree; James R. and John R. Williams and Emily M.W. Long.

Visitation will be held at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. on Monday, November 4, 2013 from 5 to 9 p.m. with a Masonic Service by his lodge at 8:45 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, the 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend James B. Shuler officiating.

Interment will be in Slateville Cemetery, Delta with a graveside service by the Harford-Cecil Honor Guard
