JOSEPH F. THOMPSON, age 83 years of Joppa, MD, died on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Senator Bob Hooper Hospice. He was the husband of Charlotte Mae (Bechtol) Thompson, and on June 20th, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Born on February 14, 1931 in Belfry, KY, he was a son of the late Oscar and Ethel (Gooslin) Thompson and US Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1949 thru 1952. Mr. Thompson built the family home including the custom cabinetry and handcrafted furniture. He was an accomplished harmonica player, carpenter, craftsman and faithful member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher. Later in life, he enjoyed watching television shows.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, MD 21154.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the church with his pastor, Reverend Tracy J. Duvall officiating. Interment will be in Mountain Christian Church Cemetery, Joppa, MD. Military Honors will be presented by the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard.
