IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josephine Mary
Warne
November 20, 1930 – September 18, 2025
Josephine Mary (Glover) Warne, 94, of Delta, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 18, 2025. She was the wife of the late Desmond Charles Chandler Warne, who died on April 29, 1996.
She was born in Bridgenorth, England, on November 20, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Mary (Smallman) Glover. The family moved to Birmingham, England, where she met her husband, Desi, and they married on December 26, 1951. They moved to the United States with their two sons in June of 1964 to start a new life in Baltimore, Maryland. In July of 1965, their third son was born.
While taking care of her family, Josephine also worked at Mantegna Pianos for 8 years, then worked for Greetings and Readings for 27 years, both in Baltimore. She loved her music and books, and thoroughly enjoyed her jobs. She made many friends during her time in Baltimore, many of whom she considered family. After retiring, she moved to Delta and loved the area. It always reminded her of being in the countryside, just like Bridgenorth was in England.
Josephine leaves her sons, Christopher Charles Warne, Sr. and his wife, Sandra, of Delta, and Peter John Warne and his wife, Gabrielle, of White Hall. She was a loving "MumMum" to her eight grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, David Michael Warne; her two brothers, John and Joseph Glover of Birmingham, England; and recently, her sister, Pauline Field of Wetherby, England. Josephine was the eldest of her siblings.
A Memorial Mass for Josephine will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville, Maryland, and will be officiated by Father John Rapisarda. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Wagner-Elfner and Harkins Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Mum had requested that a donation be made to the Youth Ministry of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Pylesville, Maryland. This would help her family, along with other youth members of the church.
