JOYCE L. CROWL, 83, a lifetime resident of Airville, PA, died in the early morning hours in her home on Thursday, July 18, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late G. Ellis Crowl for 62 years at the time of his passing on April 22, 2021.
Joyce was one of five children born to the late Ralph Leon Kilgore, Sr. and Nora Amanda (Glenn) Kilgore and had attended the Airville one room schoolhouse and continued her education in the former Lower Chanceford School in Airville. Joyce married the love of her life, Ellis on June 28, 1958, and together they shared the responsibilities of the family dairy farm on McCalls Ferry Road. Joyce was the true definition of a farmer's wife raising their family in the agricultural way of life. Known as a great cook and an exceptional baker, she enjoyed feeding those at her kitchen table with her homemade goodies.
Joyce was an avid bingo player and played at any location she could find as well as belonging to a bingo club with 13 ladies where her mother was a charter member. She was a member of the former Farm Women Group #21 and was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church currently known as Salem Church of Delta. She was a cherished member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Airville Volunteer Fire Company where she was in charge of the kitchen for numerous years hosting banquets in addition to holding offices in the organization. She was always eager to travel to Potter County to the family cabin and in later years, was known to strap on her helmet and ride in the side by side four wheeler with family members. Joyce will be remembered for her kind smile and gentle heart.

Five grandchildren-Carlyn Crowl (Craig Carbaugh); Carissa Crowl (Andrew Johnson); Casidee Crowl, Carson Crowl and Carter Myers.
Five great grandchildren-Alivia, Adalynne, Tate, Walker and Lainey
Three siblings-
Leon Kilgore and his wife, Marlene
Hazel Sellers and her husband, Jerry
Flo Kilgore, widow of her late brother, Carl Kilgore
She was also preceded in death by her son, Glenn E. Crowl on May 1, 2021 and a stillborn brother, Ronald Huber.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the Airville Volunteer Fire Company Fire Hall, 3576 Delta, Road, Airville, PA 17302 with a viewing from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. followed immediately with the funeral service. Mrs. Deanna Johnson, CLP will officiate with interment in Salem Cemetery, Delta, PA.
In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate contributions to the Airville VFC at the above address.
