Kenneth Ivan Jones, 74, of Abbottstown, PA, died at his home on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Kenneth was born in West Jefferson, NC to his late parents, Verner Lee and Minnie Ruth (Gilley) Jones. He was married to his beloved wife, Ellen (Byers) Jones, until her death in 2012.

Kenneth was a proud veteran of The United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from military service, Kenneth worked as a carpenter for Locals 1354 and 1135. While doing so, he worked on such notable projects as the I-95 tunnels in Baltimore, the National Aquarium and various building projects in and around the Inner Harbor. He retired from Whiting & Turner as Superintendent of Construction. While living in Abbottstown, he and Ellen owned and operated a horse farm. He will be remembered as the quiet and remarkable man that he was.

Kenneth is survived by one brother, Verner Jones and his wife Betty, of Darlington, MD, and one sister, Connie L. Pell and her husband Wendell, of Peach Bottom, PA. He is also survived by his nephews, Jason Pell and Verner Jones, Jr. and his niece, Jennifer Kloppman.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11:00 am until Noon at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. A funeral service will begin at Noon at the funeral home with Pastor Windell E. Pell, of Restoration Family Worship Center officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD.
