Obituary

KIMBLE JOHN ARMSTRONG, age 55 years, died on Thursday, May 27, 2010 in his home in Delta, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Louise Ann (Obrecht) Armstrong with whom he had shared twenty-two years of marriage.

Born on October 12, 1954 in Rochester, New York, he was a son of Robert Don and Joan M. (Van Scoyk) Armstrong of Abingdon, Maryland. During his teenage years, Kimble was awarded the Eagle Scout Merit Badge under the direction of Dr. Yockey for climbing seven mountains over fourteen thousand feet in just two weeks in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. After graduating from Bel Air High School in Bel Air, Maryland, he continued his education at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland and Rets Technical Training Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Kimble worked for Harford Machine Shop in Joppa, Maryland where he was the manager for over ten years. He was then employed by Moxley Welding in Darlington, Maryland until his departure due to a work related injury in 1985.

Kimble was a devoted father, taking his children on exciting adventures and excursions. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed crabbing on the Wye River, a branch of the Chesapeake Bay. A remarkable gardener, he was known to have a green thumb and able to grow just about anything. A reader of all types of literature, he especially enjoyed westerns, was a gifted wood craftsman, tile cutter/setter and adored his Bloodhounds, Pete and Katie.

Kimble was a talented gunstock craftsman/ engraver, and a lifetime member of the NRA. His additional memberships included the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, Maryland and the Bel Air Moose Lodge #1952 in Forest Hill, Maryland.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Officiating will be Pastor Bob Hunter of Centre United Methodist Church, Forest Hill, Maryland.

A private inurnment will be held in Centre United Methodist Church Cemetery, Forest Hill, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Harford County Public Library Foundation, 1221-A Brass Mill Road, Belcamp, MD 21017.
