Obituary written by Todd Holden.
Lane O. Hall, 67, a life-long native of Delta, Pennsylvania died at his home on November 29, 2009 at 10:20 in the evening with his wife of 43 years, Wilma and his daughter Khrissy by his side.
Diagnosed with terminal esophageal carcinoma in January 2009, he underwent chemotherapy throughout the summer, but the cancer spread to his lymph nodes and liver.
Born on Saint Patrick's Day, March 17, 1942 at York Hospital to Roosevelt and Ivy (Parthree) Hall of Delta where he resided the rest of his life. A twin sister, Janey Hall, lived with Lane and his family her entire life. His only brother, Roosevelt Hall, passed away in May of this year.
On June 4, 1966 Lane married the former Wilma Inscor of Bel Air. They celebrated 43 years of marriage this past June.
Lane worked out of the Laborer's Union, Local #1167 in York, Pennsylvania throughout his life. He worked constructing the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station as well as construction for the Harley-Davidson plant, Caterpillar plant and Brenner's Island Power Plant all of York, Pennsylvania.
As a young man he eagerly served in the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Department, continuing service as a life member for over fifty years. Lane also served as Fire Police captain for nine years with the Delta-Cardiff V.F.C. Lane also served as Fire Police captain with the Whiteford V.F.C. from 2007 until his death.
As a teenager he also served Peach Bottom Township as a mounted police officer in the early sixties with Ralph Morris, a long-time friend. His early life as well as the remainder of his life centered around his hometown and the welfare of others.
Lane and his family also were devoted to his twin sister, Jane, who survives and resides at the Hall home.
An avid sportsman, Lane enjoyed trips to the Susquehanna River with the Delta Crew, a group of Delta pals. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, especially sighting bald eagles. He was never out and about in his pristine red pick-up without his binoculars and bird book.
