Larry Richard Dayhoof, age 58 years, of Darlington, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on October 12, 2010. Born in Havre de Grace, MD on April 1, 1952, he was the son of the late Beulah Mitchell Dayhoof and J. Bernard Dayhoof, Sr. He was a life-long Harford County resident and a graduate of Bel Air High School. He was raised in and a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and, upon marriage, became a member of Darlington United Methodist Church.
As a youth, Larry worked at Henry Weisheit's store at Schucks Corner where McDonald's now stands. Starting in his early 20's, he began working as a carpenter/roofer; and he continued in the home improvement trade for the rest of his life.
Larry was an avid bowler and a member of the Lancaster, USBC, PA. Over the years, he was on several championship teams and was proud of the several 300 games that he scored. Other interests included gardening; feeding and watching the birds; working in his shop; discussing politics and world affairs; watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens; and enjoying the two family pets, his beloved Sasha, and "Mow Mow."
Larry is survived by his wife, Marlee Hurley Dayhoof, of Darlington MD; a daughter, Amy Lynn Dayhoof of Millsboro, DE; three grandchildren, Kayla Alexandra, Kasey Amber, and Krysta Alyse Kells, of Delta, PA; siblings, J. Bernard Dayhoof, Jr. and wife, Joanne, of Bel Air, MD; Betty Ellen Findley and husband, Walter, of Darlington, MD; Roxanne Dayhoof Burton of Churchville, MD; a brother-in-law, Richard Frank Hurley, of New Freedom , PA; a brother-in-law, Michael William Hurley and wife, Bonnie, of Woodbine, MD; and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA on Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Sieglein officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maryland Troopers Association, the Harford County Sheriff's Benevolent Fund, or the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company.
