Obituary

LARRY D. SMITH, Sr., age 67 years, of Delta, Pennsylvania died in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at 10:30 p.m. He was the husband of Glenda D. (Cantler) Smith who died on February 7, 2001.

Mr. Smith was born in Coalwood, West Virginia on January 27, 1938; a son of Ethel Mae (Jones) Smith of Riverside, Harford County and the late Oscar Dale Smith. He served over 22 years in the United States Army including service in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Okinawa and Germany. He retired as a Sergeant First Class from the United States Army in 1977. He was a member of the John S. Murphy Post #7130, Veterans of Foreign War, Delta, Pennsylvania and the Slate Ridge Post #182, American Legion, Whiteford, Maryland. He enjoyed fishing and playing the banjo. At the time of his death, he was working as a security guard at the Muddy Run Fisherman Park.

Delores Rockey of Darlington , Maryland

Dorothy Smith of Delta, Pennsylvania

Faye Mitchell of Spartansburg, South Carolina

Two brothers-

Gordon Smith of Berlin, Maryland

Jack Smith of Whiteford, Maryland

Twenty-four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher A. Smith and his brother, Lee Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania with Reverend John Borgal of Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene officiating.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, November 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
