Laura 'Esther' Jones (nee Howell), age 93 of Forest Hill, Maryland died on Friday morning, September 17, 2010 at her home. She was the wife of the late Reverend Walter K. Jones, Sr. and the late Ronald B. Jones.

Mrs. Jones was born in Rhonda, North Carolina on April 27, 1917, a daughter of the late Tyre G. and Sarah (Ham) Howell. Living most of her life in Harford County, she attended Bleak Heights School and graduated from the Old Post Road High School. She became a born again Christian at the age of 14 and was member to many churches as her husband Rev. Walter Kemp Jones, Sr. was a "church planter". She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to hymns, growing flowers, cooking, baking, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by:

One son: Walter K. Jones, Jr. and wife Margaret of Street, Maryland

One daughter: Sara Lou Wood and husband Charles of Forest Hill

One brother: Raymond Howell of Bel Air, Maryland

Also survived by five granddaughters, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Predeceased by granddaughter Greta Jones Willis

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, Maryland.

The viewing will be held at the church on Sunday, September 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bel Air.

Officiating ministers are Pastor Reverend Tracy J. Duvall of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor William K. Akehurst of the Harford Senior Worship Center.
