LESTER S. DORNEY, JR., age 81 years died on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. He was the beloved husband of Mary Alice (Matthews) Dorney.

Mr. Dorney was the loving father of:

L. Alan Dorney and his wife, Carolyn

M. Dianne Olinger and her husband Glen

L. Jane Walker and her husband, Ben

Grandfather to seven grandchildren:

Timothy Glen Olinger, Jennifer Marie Dorney Paul, Nathan Paul Olinger, Julia Anne Dorney Lesser, Janel Kathleen Dorney, Lauren Ashley Walker and Craig Alexander Walker

Also eleven great grandchildren

Two step sisters-Frances Chew and JoAnn Swarter

A step-brother, Ronald Swarter

Mr. Dorney graduated from Bel Air High School in 1947 and was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church. He served in the US Air Force and Reserves from 1948-1954. He worked as a civil servant at Edgewood Arsenal for 25 years, retiring early and enjoying woodworking in his garage where he made beautiful furniture for his family and friends. He loved his family very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Smith Dorney, Sr. and Oleita Dorney Swarter in addition to a brother, Norman Dorney.

Visitations will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dublin United Methodist Church, 1528 Whiteford Road, Street, Maryland 21154.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, the 12th at 11 a.m. at the church with his minister, Pastor James Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, Maryland with military honors presented by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
