Obituary

LESTER CARL STEWART, 68 of Fawn Grove, PA died on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at York Hospital. Married on June 9, 1979 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Fawn Grove, he was the beloved husband for 44 years of Donna Ann (Winkler) Stewart until the time of her passing this year on April 7th.

Born in Baltimore, MD on March 21, 1955, he was a son of the late Walter N. Stewart and Helen Virginia (Whitehair) Stewart and was a 1974 graduate of Kennard Dale High School. Lester proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from January 1975 that included a deployment in Japan until his honorable discharge in January 1978.

Lester was a talented carpenter and had worked for the late Walter Heaps and then with his son, Dale Heaps constructing beautiful homes, garages and all types of remodeling. He was known as a "jack of all trades" with the knowledge and skills to fix and construct just about anything. He enjoyed playing poker with his card club friends, treasured the sleep over times with his grandchildren and was known for his great sense of humor, kindness and generosity. His family will deeply miss everything about him especially his storytelling and "dad" talks.

Roger Stewart of Bel Air, MD

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Stewart who was killed in action during the Vietnam War.

Services will be held in Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA with a viewing on Tuesday, December 12th from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home with Reverend Tracy Duvall, United States Army Veteran, pastor of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church officiating.

Interment with military honors presented by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will be at graveside in Bel Air Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest with his loving wife, Donna.
