Life story prepared by her loving family: On April 22, 2024, Linda I. Stovall Schindler of Rising Sun, MD, passed from this life to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was 81 years old. Born in Churchville, MD, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Elizabeth (Hash) Crabbe, of Darlington, MD.
Linda has been married to Dr. Fred Schindler, retired pastor and missionary. They actively shared the gospel together in many churches in the US and foreign countries. They previously served at Valley Baptist Church in Coatesville, PA and were presently serving at Fellowship Baptist Church in Elkton, MD. Linda was a former member of Franklin Baptist Church for over 55 years, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was active in both women's group and VBS.
Linda was gifted with a caring and outgoing personality. She had an abundance of creative talent, an adventurous spirit and a sense of humor that always kept life interesting. She loved nature and was known for her beautiful roses and giant elephant ear plants. You might well have found her hiking, kayaking, tubing, parasailing, or at home busy with her sewing, crafting or artwork. Her love for cooking, baking and sharing was appreciated by her family and friends. Her door was always open for a snack and a chat.
Linda was the wife of the late James C. Stovall. They were married for 48 years before his passing in 2007. In addition to her husband, Dr. Fred Schindler at home, Linda is survived by her children; Carl (Sharon) Stovall, of NC, Cindy (David) Carter and Lois (David) Baird, all of Darlington, MD, and three stepchildren; Holly (Aaron) Turner, of MO, Scott (Lucy) Schindler, of AR, and Jessica (David) Ross, of IN. In addition, she and Fred cherished 16 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Betsy (Todd) Shelley, of Peach Bottom, PA.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Linda was predeceased by her brother, LeRoy Crabbe, Jr., and a sister, Julia Swearingen Mitzel.
Linda's passing will leave a void in the hearts of her family and friends whom loved her so much.
Viewings will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, MD. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend Tracy J. DuVall officiating. Interment will be held immediately following the funeral in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD. Serving as pallbearers are Brendon Flynn, Blake Flynn, Chad Shelley, Jason Carter, Larry Fox, David McMillan and Jon Williams.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., of Delta, PA.
