LOIS E. BARNETT, age 85 years of Delta, PA died on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of Richard M. Barnett, Sr. who died in 1986.

Born on August 17, 1926 in Lower Chanceford Township, York County, PA, she was a daughter of Renal and C. Pauline (Smith) Poteet. She was raised on a farm and graduated in 1944 from the former Lower Chanceford School in Airville, PA. She and her late husband farmed in several locations throughout the Peach Bottom and Lower Chanceford Townships. She loved to work outside, taking great pride in maintaining her yard and flower gardens.

For over 20 years Mrs. Barnett provided transportation to school for L.I.U. and York Vo-Tech students throughout York County. She was a lifetime member of Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court #106 Order of the Amaranth, Red Lion, PA and the Eastern Star. Mrs. Barnett was a member of the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in Airville for over 50 years where she was very active, having served as a church elder.

Cynthia A. Barnett and her husband, Gary Glatfelter of DePere, WI

Sara J. (Sally) Williams and her husband, Donald of Delta, PA

Kim M. Jones of Delta, PA

Eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren

A sister, Janet Minnich of York, PA

She was preceded in death by her children-Suzanne L. Barnett and Richard M. Barnett, Jr. a granddaughter, Stacy Streett Jones and her brother, Edwin Poteet.

Visitations will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Road, Airville, PA 17302.

Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday, the 5th at 11 a.m. with her pastor, Reverend James B. Shuler officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
