LORAYNE M. ICKES, 93 years of Street, MD, died in her home on Friday, September 11, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Frederick G. Ickes, and at the time of his death in 2003, they had shared 63 years of marriage.

Born on January 13, 1922 in Meyersdale, PA, she was a daughter of the late Frank E. and Thelma Cecilia (Snyder) Miller. Retiring in 1984, Mrs. Ickes had worked as a bookbinder for over 35 years. She learned the trade while working for the former Rucizka's Bookbinding in Baltimore before opening her own business known as "Save-A-Book" in Bel Air. She had been involved in repair/restoration of many old books including some from the Vatican. A member at Church of the Ascension, she was involved with the Ladies Guild.

She is survived by:
Two sons-
Clark Ickes of York, PA
Jerry Ickes and his wife, Linda of Street, MD

Three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a special niece, Julie Guethler, her husband, John and their loving family.

She was preceded in death by her siblings-
Robert Eugene Miller; Mary Susan Krygsman, James Richard Miller and Thelma Louise Miller-Folk-Dorsey.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16. 2015 at Church of the Ascension, 3015 Dublin Road, Street, MD with visitation from 11 to noon followed immediately with the funeral service.

Reverend Larrie Smith will officiate with interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
