MABEL MARIE SMITHSON, age 81 years, died on Thursday, July 8, 2010 in her home in Street, Maryland. She was the wife of William Lee Smithson, Jr. who died on January 21, 1988.

Born on March 20, 1929 in Harford County, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late William and Pauline (Hopkins) Jones. A homemaker, she enjoyed making crafts and watching movies on television. She attended Emory United Methodist Church and the Highland Senior Center, both in Street, Maryland.

She is survived by:

Three children-

James L. Smithson and his wife, Karen of Street, Maryland

Charles W. Smithson and his wife, Henri of Street, Maryland

Robert D. Smithson of Tennessee

Six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Virginia Smithson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Emory United Methodist Church, 911 Cherry Hill Road, Street, Maryland with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Pastor Brian Shockey of Emory United Methodist Church will officiate.

Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Pylesville, Maryland.
