MARGARET ALICE SMITH WILSON ATKINS, age 83 years, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Manor Care in York, PA. She was the wife of John J. Atkins who entered into rest on June 3, 1989.

Mrs. Atkins was born on September 16, 1929 in Sunnyburn, a daughter of the late John Smith and Ruthanna (Colvin) Wilson/Toole and stepdaughter of the late Edwin Toole. She graduated from the former Lower Chanceford High School in the Class of 1947 and served as the school secretary until 1958 when she became a full time mother and housewife.

Mrs. Atkins was a 73 year member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in Airville where sang in the church choir, a member of Presbyterian Women and a member of the Half Century Club. She enjoyed time with her family, baking for family and friends, growing and arranging flowers and reading. She was known to send cards to everyone for all occasions, especially when someone needed a bit of cheer.

A son, Mark A. Atkins of Airville

A daughter, Cynthia A. Shenberger and her husband, Jan of Brogue, PA

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Road, Airville, PA with her pastor, Reverend James B. Shuler officiating.

Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Friends may call at the church for one hour prior to the funeral.
