MARGARET L. (JONES) GARRETT, age 83 years of Street, formerly of Whiteford, Maryland, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Hart Heritage Estates in Street, Maryland. She was the wife of William (Bill) R. Garrett who died on May 17, 2007.

Born in Street, Maryland on March 8, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Royston and Clara M. (Bull) Jones. Mrs. Garrett graduated from the former Dublin High School and was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.

In her early years, she helped to manage the family grocery store in Prospect and later managed the (Tropical Treat) snack bar at her husband's business.

Mrs. Garrett loved flowers, and was known to beautifully maintain her lawn and shrubbery.

She is survived by:

A first cousin, Jane (Tracy) McGibney and her husband, Forwood of Whiteford, Maryland

Second cousins-James, Kevin and Lowell McGibney.

Many loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 1510 Deep Run Road, Whiteford, Maryland 21160.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
