MARIE P. LOSS, age 91 years of Madonna died at the home of her daughter in Jarrettsville at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Stanley J. Loss who died on February 5, 1998.
Mrs. Loss was born on July 30, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois a daughter of the late Ludwig and Angela (Pietruski) Wijas. A resident of Madonna since 1992, she was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Pylesville and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. From 1981 - 1984 she and her husband served in Peru, Tunisia and Brazil as volunteers for International Executive Service Corps.
Marie was an exceptional wife, daughter, sister, mother, mother in law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her top priorities were always her family and the Lord. She took pride in all the accomplishments of her family. Dignified in all she did, Marie will always be remembered as a role model in the lives of her family members.
She is survived by:
Two sons: Gregory E. Loss and his wife Carol of Walkersville, MD
Roderick J. Loss and his wife Colleen of Potomac, MD
Twin daughters: Sandra M. McCain and her husband Wilfred of Forest Hill, MD
Sharon A. Michie and her husband Mark of Jarrettsville, MD
One sister: Sister M. Adria of Grand Prairie, TX
Twelve grandchildren: Gregory, Michael, Stephen, Rebecca, Christopher, Timothy, Mark, Jonathan, Marie, Melissa, Julianne and Jeremy
Also survived by eight great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville, MD 21132.
Reverend A. Henry Kunkel, III will be the celebrant.
Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Viewings will be held on Friday, February 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, PA.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday evening at 7 p.m. led by the Mason-Dixon Council #10100, Knights of Columbus immediately followed by a prayer service led by Reverend A. Henry Kunkel, III.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Capitol Campaign and sent to the church at the above address.
