Obituary

MARLIN E. "Sonny" SHOFF, age 74 years of Delta, PA died at Manor Care South, York on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 6:25 p.m. He was the husband of Janet (Workman) Shoff. They observed their 49th. wedding anniversary on January 9, 2008.

Mr. Shoff was born in Felton, PA on October 8, 1933 a son of the late Samuel L. and Mary (Smith) Shoff. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1954 - 1956. He won the Golden Gloves championship at Fort Dix, NJ during those years. A self employed carpenter, Sonny worked locally on many projects. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and eagle watcher and he loved his dogs. He enjoyed gardening and maintaining his lawn and was known for his immaculate yard. He was affiliated with Chanceford Presbyterian Church, supporting its many activities with his time and contributions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

One son: Darren Shoff and his wife Staci of Portland, Maine

Two sisters: Helen McCallister of Airville, PA

Charmaine Shoff of York

One brother: Walter "Punch" Shoff of Red Lion, PA

Also survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters; Anna Marie Haugh and Betty Smeltzer and one brother; Edward Shoff.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m. at Chanceford Presbyterian Church, Woodbine Road, Airville with the pastor, Reverend Harry R. Robinson officiating.

Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery with military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation with the family will be in church on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chanceford Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 56, Airville, PA or the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.

Active pallbearers are: Donald McNatt, LeRoy Shoff, Donald Shoff, Garry Beard, Mark Howard and Darren Shoff

Honorary bearers are: Kenneth Fitzkee and Leon Shoff
