Melva Jean Thompson, 53, of Street, MD, died at home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Melva was born in Aberdeen, MD, to her parents, Robert L. Wells and Darlene L. (Palm) Keefer.

Melva loved her Lord. The family gathered every Sunday in their home and worshiped. This was truly the highlight of her week. She was a devoted woman to her family. She had an infectious smile, was a nurturing and caring individual, loved to entertain and was a faithful friend to many. She enjoyed baking cookies and birthday cakes for everyone in her family.

She loved Christmas, being surrounded by those who loved her brought her great joy. She was able to enjoy one last Christmas holiday, hosted by her family, only a few days ago. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her Aunt Cookie, shopping and searching for the best chicken bar-b-que and pit beef sandwiches Maryland could offer.

In addition to her mother, Melva is survived by her step-father, Joseph Wayne Keefer, of Street, MD, and her son, Anthony Joseph Taylor, her brothers, Robert Daniel Wells and his wife Lori, of Stewartstown, Joseph Aron Keefer and his wife Jennifer, of Belcamp, MD, and her sister, Jolene Ann Keefer, of Street, MD. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Melanie Lynn Keefer, Ashley Renee Wells, Robert Daniel Wells, Jr. and Colton James Wells. In addition, she is survived by her aunts, Carolyn "Cookie" Meyer, Regina Miller and Linda Palm.

Melva was predeceased by one aunt, Brenda Palm and her uncle, Danny Palm.

Viewings will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and again on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 10:00 until 11:00 am at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor John Crouse, of Faith Baptist Tabernacle officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, MD.
