MILDRED MARIE ROCKEY, age 78 years, of Darlington, Maryland died on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Citizens Care Center in Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was the wife of Frank E. Rockey and on July 14th, they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Rockey was born on July 3, 1930 in Fallston, Maryland; she was a daughter of the late Ervin R. Taylor, Sr. and Stella Jones Taylor. She graduated from the former Slate Ridge High School, Cardiff, Maryland in 1948. She was a home maker and a charter member of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Street, Maryland. Her service at the church included teaching Sunday School for the 4 & 5 year old children for 42 years, working with the Vacation Bible School program and singing in the choir.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by:

A granddaughter, Tammy L. Nichols of Rising Sun, Maryland

Two great grandchildren-

Tyler Dale Nichols and Mackenzie Marie Nichols, both of Rising Sun, Maryland

A sister, Gladys I. Jones of Delta, Pennsylvania

Three brothers-

Ervin R. Taylor, Jr., and David K. Taylor, both of Whiteford, Maryland

Reuben Taylor of Pacoima, California

She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Joe Taylor and siblings: Nellie V. Herring, Elizabeth Trimble and James E. Taylor.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, the 21st at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Methodist Church 1736 Whiteford Road, Street, Maryland with her pastor. Reverend Dr. John E. McKnight officiating.

Interment will be in the Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Pallbearers will be Richard Herring, Marvin Nichols, Randall Taylor, Joseph McKnight, Thomas McKnight and Gary Taylor.
