Obituary

Morgan Mitchell Rickey, Jr., lovingly known to many simply as “Morgan,” passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of his family. In his final moments, he was lovingly surrounded by his devoted wife, Linda, and his children Kay, Tim, and Nina.

Born on January 8, 1941, in Perryman, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late Morgan Mitchell Rickey, Sr. and Helen Meyers Rickey.

Morgan shared an extraordinary 66 years of marriage with the love of his life, Linda Ryan Rickey. Together they built not only a beautiful family, but a life rooted in hard work, faith, dedication, and unwavering love.

A proud graduate of St. Stephens High School, Class of 1958, Morgan was a man whose hands built a legacy and whose heart never strayed far from the people and land he loved most. A lifelong farmer, he devoted his life to agriculture and in 1965 established Love’s Mill Dairy Farm in Whiteford, Maryland, where generations of memories were made. Farming was never simply an occupation to Morgan — it was a way of life, one that reflected his grit, resilience, and deep appreciation for God’s creation.

Morgan was known throughout the community as a pillar of strength, integrity, and generosity. Whether through his years operating his tractor trailer business, lending a helping hand to neighbors, or simply offering wisdom earned through experience, he touched countless lives throughout Harford County and beyond.

Outside of his work, Morgan lived life with passion and adventure. He was an accomplished motorcycle competitor who loved flat track racing and hillclimbing, eventually establishing the Whiteford Hillclimb — something that became both a passion and a lasting part of the local motorsports community. He also found great joy in hunting, fishing, and caring for animals, all things that reflected his deep connection to the outdoors.

Morgan was more than a hardworking farmer and businessman — he was a mentor, teacher, and role model to many young men throughout multiple generations. Through his work ethic, quiet strength, humility, and willingness to lend a helping hand, he taught lessons that extended far beyond the farm. Many looked up to him not only for what he accomplished in life, but for the kind of man he was.

Above all else, Morgan’s greatest pride and deepest love was his family. His devotion to them was evident in every aspect of his life. He leaves behind a family who adored him and will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Ryan Rickey; his daughter, Kay Rickey Lambert; granddaughter Kelly Bodani and her husband Seth, along with their children Riley, Claire, Zoe, and Grace; granddaughter Sara Lahatte and her husband Mike; son Tim Rickey and his wife Jen, along with grandchildren Jamie, Ess, and Cassie; son Jay Rickey and his wife Jill, along with grandchildren Paige and Brooke; daughter Nina Rickey-Sharek and her husband Steve, along with grandchildren Jeremy and his wife Izetta, Travis, Corey, and Adeline; numerous beloved great-grandchildren; and his sister, Audrey Rickey Murray.

In addition to his parents, Morgan was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Rickey Timken.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Brenda Buchanan, Rachael Correa, and the compassionate staff of Gilchrist Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and support shown to Morgan and his family during his illness.

A special and profound expression of love and gratitude is extended to his daughter, Nina, whose unwavering dedication and selfless care made it possible for Morgan to remain on the farm he loved so dearly and ultimately pass peacefully at home surrounded by those he loved most.

Morgan’s life was one of purpose, hard work, loyalty, and love. The legacy he leaves behind is not only found in the fields he farmed or the businesses he built, but in the family he cherished, the community he helped shape, and the countless lives he impacted along the way.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a visitation at Wagner-Elfner & Harkins Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA 17314.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at, 1021 St. Mary’s Road, Pylesville, MD 21132.

Wagner-Elfner & Harkins Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. is honored to be entrusted with the care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Morgan’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
