Stanley
July 1, 1912 – June 2, 2009
NAILER H. STANLEY, age 96 years of Delta, Pennsylvania died on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Rest Haven-York. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sinona R. (Sparks) Mullins Stanley who died on September 20, 2004.
Born in Cordova, West Virginia on July 1, 1912, he was the son of the late William P. and Arvilla (Gross) Stanley. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, but above all he loved God.
In 1940 Mr. Stanley made his profession to God and joined the Welcome Home Baptist Church, now Union Chapel on Slab Road, Delta. A devout Christian, he served as a deacon at his church for many years.
Nailer had a great love for outdoor life. He loved to hunt, fish, farm, go to the mountains for turkey and deer season and tinker in his shop. He also did some bear hunting in Canada. He thoroughly enjoyed heading into the woods with his sons and he taught them at an early age to only hunt what would be eaten. The life of the game was given by God for mans benefit, and their life was to be valued and respected. Though he cherished his time in the outdoors, for enjoyment nothing topped having all the children and grandchildren crowded into the small home he shared with his loving wife, Sinona.
He loved to sing the old church hymns and in later years would sing every evening. He said it was like praying and talking to God.
