OPAL R .ROSS, age 79 years of Whiteford, Maryland died at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2007. She was the wife of Eugene A. Ross who died on September 11, 2004.
Mrs. Ross was born on January 11, 1928 in Sparta, North Carolina a daughter of the late Elijah and Lula Mae (Edwards) Petty. A homemaker, she had previously worked for Bata Shoe Company in Belcamp, Maryland. Her life was devoted to her family.
She is survived by:
Five children: Thomas A. Ross of Cardiff, Maryland
Crystol A. Haldeman of Columbia, Pennsylvania
Bonny A. Burns of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania
Wilburn A. Ross of Cardiff, Maryland
Colleen A. Harden of Little River, South Carolina
Five brothers: Thomas Petty of Street, Maryland
John Petty of Darlington, Maryland
Robert Petty of Churchville, Maryland
Harold Petty of Darlington, Maryland
Rufus Petty of Darlington, Maryland
Three sisters: Carolyn Smith of Darlington, Maryland
Virginia Catron of Hoquium, Washington
Katherine Akin of Street, Maryland
Also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Allen Ross who died on March 22, 1984.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.
Elder Fred Wyatt of Baptist View Church will officiate.
Interment will be in Broad Creek Friends Cemetery, Street, Maryland.
Viewing will be on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
