Obituary

Oscar Stephen Smith, Sr., 76, of Airville, PA, died peacefully at home on Monday, September 16, 2024. Oscar was born in Baltimore, MD, to his late parents, Oscar Franklin and Helen Lucille (Stephen) Smith. He was married to his beloved wife of 54 years, Sharon Charlene (Rittenhouse) Smith, who survives at home.

Oscar was a one of a kind man. He was a faithful and devoted family man and a proud Navy veteran. He was an avid fisherman and loved hunting, feeling his best when he was in the great outdoors. Every year, Oscar and his sons took a fishing trip on Father's Day, a memory that they will cherish forever. He was a founding member of Wingfield Hunting Club, in Huntingdon County. In addition to being a loving family man, Oscar was a friend to many and would help anyone at the drop of a hat.

In addition to his beloved Sharon at home, Oscar is survived by his children; Rachel Lynn Kelly and her husband Matthew, of Stewartstown, PA, Oscar Stephen Smith, Jr. and his girlfriend, Kiersten Stabley, of Joppa, MD, and Dustin Anthony Smith and his wife Amanda, of Airville, PA. In addition, Oscar is survived by his grandchildren; Matthew T. Kelly and his wife Brittany, Joshua Kelly, Noah Kelly, Devin Smith, Ian Smith, Caden Stabley, Hunter Stabley, Tyler Stabley, Ryder James Smith, Austin Smith and his fiancée Alysa Ross, Autumn Smith and Beverly Ann Smith and his great grandchildren, Addison N. Kelly and Josephine R. Kelly. His sisters, Dorothy Coppell and her husband William, and Dava Whiten and her husband Bill Whiten also survive. He is also survived by his faithful pup, Lucy.

In addition to his parents, Oscar was predeceased by his sisters, Kitty Garcia and JoAnn Vyskocil.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the late home on Saturday, October 5, 2024 beginning at 1:00 pm. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy.
