RALPH KELLY GALLION, age 70 years of Darlington, Maryland died at his home on Friday evening, August 21, 2009. He was the husband of Linda A. (Perry) Gallion. They observed their 49th. wedding anniversary on May 23, 2009.
Ralph was born in Baltimore on October 22, 1938 a son of the late Ralph Coast and Anna Mae (Lay) Gallion of Dublin, Maryland. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he was a 1957 graduate of North Harford High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 � 1963, some of which involved military intelligence work within Korea. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army he attended Harford Community College and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. Ralph served with the Harford County Sheriff�s Dept. where he achieved the rank of Corporal and was instrumental in establishing the departments S.W.A.T. and dive teams. Also with the Sheriff's Dept., he led boating safety instruction courses specifically for navigating the diverse water conditions found both above and below the Conowingo Dam. Ralph later worked as a supervisor for the Harford County Dept. of Highways at both Aldino and Hickory.
His Masonic memberships include Stephenson Lodge #135, A.F.&A.M, Darlington; 32 degree Mason with the Scottish Rite, Valley of Baltimore; Noble of the Boumi Temple and Worthy Patron of Penn-Mary Chapter #72, O.E.S., Cardiff. An avid hunter, Ralph was a member of the Delta-Peach Bottom Game and Fish Assn.
In addition to his wife he is survived by:
One daughter: Cynthia Anne Shelton and her husband Brian of Brogue, Pennsylvania
One son: Brian Kelly Gallion and his wife Kathryn Marie (Plourde) Gallion of Mechanicsville, Maryland
Four grandchildren: Terran Michelle Miller, Sadie Marie Gallion, Perry Kenton Gallion and Logan Kelly Gallion.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.
Officiating will be Elder Steven W. Bloyd of the Mt. Carmel Primitive Baptist Church, Bel Air, Maryland.
Interment with military honors will be in Dublin Southern Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, August 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. where a Masonic Service by Stephenson Lodge will be held at 7:30 p.m.
