Richard Thomas Coen, Sr., 86, of Delta, PA, passed away on December 25, 2023, while at Sterling Care, Forest Hill, MD. Richard was born on October 28, 1937, north of Coles Station, Coles County, IL, at home. Richard was the son of Arthur Ennis Coen and Nancy Irene (Varner) Coen.

He was a member of Bryansville United Methodist Church and was a Navy veteran. His service ended honorably and he was discharged from Bainbridge Base, Port Deposit, MD. He and his late wife, Betty L. (Hughey) Coen, owned and operated the Conowingo Diner and the Conowingo Furniture Store. He also worked at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. In his spare time he volunteered at the Delta Senior Center. He was an artist, took writing classes and taught bible study at both the Senior Center and his church.

Richard was a hardworking, fun, generous and loving husband; father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was loved by all who knew him. He will be missed and remembered.

Surviving are; beloved friend Myrtle Workman and family, Richard's three sons, Richard Thomas Coen, Jr. and wife Camilla, Christopher Stewart Coen, and his wife Kerry, all of Norfolk, VA, Robert Arthur Coen, of North Carolina, his stepson, Stephen Lee Brown, and wife Denise, of the Philippine Islands and stepdaughter, Teresa Yvonne Brown Williams, and husband Fred, of Kenansville, NC. He is also survived by his siblings; Joyce Coen Risley, of Bethany, IL, Frances E. Coen Watts Kramer, of Decatur, IL and Everett A. Coen, and wife Twyla, of Ladson, SC. In addition, he is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins all over the country.

In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Harkins Funeral Home, Inc., 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm, in the chapel of the funeral home with Minister Carol Burkindine officiating. Interment will be held in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, PA, immediately following the funeral.
